Administrative/Facility

Handy Person!  (aka Facility Maintenance  Projects)

Goal:  Support community pride by ensuring ESC’s learning center stays in tip-top condition!

Duties: Work with ESC staff to repair minor facility problems and maintain general facility upkeep.  A few facility projects:

  • Paint elevator lift
  • Clean gutters
  • Wash outside windows
  • Repair peeling laminate
  • Repair loose sink fixtures
  • Change high ceiling light bulbs

Requirements:  Previous handy-work experience needed.  Your own tools.  A few hours for each project.  We welcome either one-time project volunteers or someone willing to come in 1-2 hours once a month.

Number of Positions: 2 positions

Timeline: Projects are on-going

Documentarian! (aka Program Photographer/Videographer)

Goal: Capture student transformations as they learn about the environment through photos and videos.

Duties: Photograph and/or video ESC programs happening in classrooms and field sites.  Collect and file photo release information.  Share image files with ESC for their use.  Images and videos will be used on social media, ESC’s website, and in ESC communications.

Requirements: Attend an orientation, volunteer 10-20 hours within 3 months, age 14 and up.

Number of Positions: 4 positions

Timeline: Photography projects coincide with our programs.

  • Beach Heroes: April – June
  • Summer Programs: June – August
  • Salmon Heroes: Sept – Dec
  • Other programs: year-round

Tree Protector! (aka Grant Administration Project)

Goal: Improve community relationships by creating a robust grant management system.  Decrease paper use with a paper-free grant management system.

Duties: Assist ESC’s Grant Manager to scan and catalogue past grant applications.  Record applications and awards in Little Green Light – a CRM database.

Requirements: Volunteer 20-25 hours within 3 months, age 16 and up.  No experience needed.

Number of Positions: 2 positions

Timeline:  This ongoing project will be broken up into 3 month projects – start dates are open.  We are flexible on schedule.

Rewards: Be part of the philanthropic community, meet like-minded people, gain experience working with a non-profit organization, learn about the grant process, learn how to use a CRM database to track donor relations and gifts, attend volunteer recognition dinner, and receive awards for milestone achievements.

 

File Master! (aka File Management Project)

Goal: Increase organizational effectiveness by improving internal file management system.

Duties: Assist ESC’s Grant Manager to improve the way we store electronic files in Dropbox – a cloud based file storage system.  Volunteer will follow a file map to move relevant files to new folders, delete duplicates, merge similar files, make suggestions.

Requirements: Volunteer approximately 2-4 hours for 10 weeks.  Age 16 and up.  No experience needed.

Number of Positions: 1 position

Timeline: Start date is negotiable.  We are flexible on schedule.  This project will take approximately 30 hours.
